At Konrad's Tropical Grille the artistry, hospitality and culinary talent of a classic European Chef shines through.
Konrad Mayerhofer was born in Bavaria and attended culinary school in Germany. After working in Stuttgart, and some of the finest hotels in Switzerland for five years, Konrad went to sea and guided the culinary compass on several cruise ships. He has looked after diners as the executive chef in New York's famous Essex House Hotel and came to Marco in 1982 as the executive chef of the Marriott.
Konrad has served Marco Island residents since 1984. Konrad's Tropical Grille retains the classic foundation with a more casual, tropical flare.
All dishes prepared at Konrad's contain only natural ingredients. A non-cholesterol vegetable oil, coupled with the European emphasis on natural and non-preservative cookery, insures the freshest and highest quality entrées from the land and sea. The beef is aged in-house; the salmon and ribs smoked with time-honored tradition; and the specialty beef sauerbraten is marinated for three days. All entrées are served with freshly baked rolls and Konrad's pretzel bread is a specialty that should not be missed!
